Pain Management

Your pathway to overall foot health and pain-free mobility.

Plantar Fasciitis:

Cause: Inflammation of the plantar fascia (a band of tissue that runs along the sole of the foot).

Treatment: Rest, stretching exercises, orthotic inserts, physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, shockwave therapy, and in severe cases, surgical release.

Achilles Tendinitis:

Cause: Inflammation of the Achilles tendon, usually due to overuse or biomechanical issues.

Treatment: Rest, physical therapy, stretching, heel lifts, orthotic devices, anti-inflammatory medications, and in severe cases, surgical intervention.

Bunions (Hallux Valgus):

Cause: A bony protrusion at the base of the big toe, often caused by genetics or ill-fitting footwear.

Treatment: Orthotic devices, footwear modifications, bunion splints or pads, pain relief medications, and surgery to correct severe cases.

Hammertoes:

Cause: Abnormal bending of the toes, often due to genetics, tight footwear, or muscle imbalance.

Treatment: Orthotic devices, toe splints or cushions, exercises, and surgery for severe deformities.

Ingrown Toenails:

Cause: The edge of the toenail grows into the skin, causing pain and potential infection.

Treatment: Soaking the foot, proper nail trimming techniques, antibiotics for infection, and, in severe cases, surgical removal of the ingrown portion.

Neuromas (Morton’s Neuroma):

Cause: Thickening of tissue around the nerves between the toes, leading to pain and discomfort.

Treatment: Orthotic devices, padding, corticosteroid injections, physical therapy, and, in severe cases, surgical removal of the neuroma.

Gout:

Cause: A form of arthritis caused by the buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints, including the foot.

Treatment: Medications to lower uric acid levels, anti-inflammatory drugs, dietary changes, and pain relief medications.

Stress Fractures:

Cause: Tiny cracks in the bones of the foot due to overuse, often seen in athletes.

Treatment: Rest, immobilisation, orthotic devices, physical therapy, and gradual return to weight-bearing activities.

Arthritis:

Cause: Inflammation of the joints in the foot, often due to osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
Treatment: Medications for pain and inflammation, orthotic devices, physical therapy, and in severe cases, joint injections or surgical procedures.

Remember:

Each individual has unique needs, so it’s essential to tailor the fall prevention strategy to their specific circumstances. Consulting with healthcare professionals or occupational therapists can provide additional guidance and support in developing an effective plan.
